wooden map

Hello!!

Welcome to my venture of turning my passion and interest in geography and maps into a source where individuals and organizations can better understand how geography works in the 21st Century.

Times have changed and so has geography along with the tools and methods that geographers use. Even the nature of geography has changed. What does this mean?

No Longer:

  • Memorizing state shapes

  • Drawing maps by hand

  • Placing pins on paper wall maps

  • Ordering TripTik travel planners for a vacation or road trip

Now:

  • Web maps that can determine the amount of time to travel between two or more locations

  • Why Walgreens and Starbucks are nearly on every corner

  • Understanding optimal locations for businesses or service centers

  • Understanding locations or areas near potential customers

  • Learning the socio-demographic characteristics of people in a neighborhood, city, or state

  • Instantly locating what is near you on your phone

The list can go on, but the point is that geography and more specifically, spatial analysis, yield enormous potential for revealing insights on the location of almost anything on the planet.

Please stop by this site often to see what has changed and check out my map examples.
